The Color Series are works done primarily in “oil on canvas” to illustrate in a “Post Modern Impressionist” manner the concepts of living in a modern world of confusion and disarray. “Sunsets” painted alla prima—or all in one session—are juxtaposed to bands of color glazes and intricate elements of nature. In this particular piece “Attitudes” are addressed—the half full concept vs. the half empty.

Experimenting with subject, medium and varying elements is one of the intriguing parts of my work. Everything one needs to know about art can be found in nature from color relationships to composition. The paintings here are as much about narrative as they are about color.

“I believe artists tell stories in their work based on awareness of ourselves and others - anecdotes put to the music of visual imagery. The Color Series is a study of color, but also tells the tale of faith and dreams yet to come.”

Many of the Impressionist Paintings seen here are available as Prints and Notecards at Imagekind.com

I find the more the Color Series develops and as each new piece comes to fruition, the paintings are becoming more expressive. From a collector’s point of view, Post Modern Impressionism is a style - one either likes it or not. From a painter’s point of view, Post Modern Impressionism is a matter of expression, emotion; choosing subjects that best describe a particular sensibility, and following through.

The color variance span of Southwest Regional sunsets provide a never ending continuum and challenge.

“ A Heart Pierced . . .” is a temporary departure from the Color Series, but is close to my heart. The full Latin translation is “A heart pierced by the nails of our sin”. I have friends of many faiths and the one thing we all agree on is mutual respect for our beliefs. I am a Catholic Christian who believes the Resurrection is the foundation of my faith in God and the church.
